Siamo felicissimi (e chi non lo sarebbe!!!) di condividere con voi una chiacchierata interessantissima con l’affascinante e talentuoso Sean Kanan. [Scroll down for the Enlgish version!]
L’attore presta il suo volto a Deacon Sharpe, un personaggio molto sfaccettato che non possiamo etichettare come semplice “trouble maker”, perché dietro alla sua aria strafottente c’è di più.
Sean Kanan ha interpretato Deacon Sharpe dal 2000 al 2005 in The Bold and The Beautiful, poi il personaggio è diventato uno dei protagonisti di un’altra soap di Brad Bell, The Young and The Restless, dal 2009 al 2012.
Da quando il personaggio è rientrato a B&B, dopo un lungo periodo di assenza, lo show si è movimentato: Deacon è il personaggio che mancava e noi speriamo che resti il più a lungo possibile!
Ecco a voi l’intervista!
TWB: Sean, il tuo personaggio è un cattivo ragazzo che desidera cambiare per essere un uomo migliore ed un padre migliore, ma continua a commettere errori. Qual è la sua vera natura? Un incurabile combina guai? O un bravo ragazzo che semplicemente non riesce a fare la cosa giusta al momento giusto?
SEAN: Deacon Sharpe è un ragazzo che viene dalla parte malfamata della città. E’ stato cresciuto dalla madre single a Las Vegas e occasionalmente dal violento patrigno, Daryl. All’inizio della sua vita, Deacon aveva un debole per le ragazze giovani e per le donne mature e ricche. Sostanzialmente, finisce in prigione per aver cercato di aiutare Nikki (Nikki Newman di Y&R, n.d.r) ad evitare una condanna per omicidio. La nascita di sua figlia (Hope, n.d.r.) sembra averlo addolcito e maturato in maniera positiva. La sua caratteristica tipica è il suo carisma o la sua capacità di perseverare. Credo che ci sia del buono nel suo cuore anche se ha fatto tante cose brutte per sopravvivere. Non è né bianco né nero, ma piuttosto ha molte sfumature di grigio. Queste sfumature di grigio sono ciò che io trovo così interessanti come attore.
TWB: Sappiamo che parli un italiano eccellente: da quanto tempo lo studi? Questo studio della lingua italiana è solo un piacere o pensi di venire a vivere o lavorare in Italia in futuro?
SEAN: Studio italiano da un decennio, ormai. Sfortunatamente non sapevo parlare italiano né lo capivo molto bene quando ho fatto Ballando con le Stelle e questo la rese una esperienza difficile benché gratificante. L’Italia per me è come una seconda casa e accoglierei con piacere l’opportunità di lavorarci di nuovo. Studiare italiano mi rilassa e mi concentra. Direi che è una forma di terapia.
TWB: Ricordiamo che eri tra i concorrenti di Ballando con le Stelle. Anche alcuni dei tuoi colleghi – Ronn Moss e Katherine Kelly Lang, tra gli altri – hanno partecipato allo stesso programma. Balli ancora? Sei un tipo sportivo?
SEAN: Mi piace molto ballare con mia moglie. Sono ancora molto attivo nel mio allenamento con le arti marziali.
TWB: Hai amici stretti tra i tuoi colleghi di set? Vi capita di uscire assieme, coinvolgendo le vostre famiglie e i vostri partner?
SEAN: Sono molto fortunato a lavorare con un gruppo di persone che mi piacciono davvero. Non socializziamo molto spesso perché trascorriamo già così tanto tempo assieme al lavoro e abbiamo delle famiglie.

We’re so happy to share with all of you fans a very interesting chat we had with charming and talented actor Sean Kanan.
He’s the one who brings to life “bad boy” Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and The Beautiful.
Deacon is a complex character, not only a “trouble maker”: he’s so much more than this. And he adds a lot to the show, we hope Deacon is here to stay!
Here’s what Sean told us about his life and his character on B&B.
TWB: Sean, your character is a bad boy who wishes to change to be a better man and a better dad, but he goes on committing mistakes.
What’s his real nature? An incurable trouble maker? Or a good boy who just can’t do the right thing at the right time?
SEAN: Deacon Sharpe is a guy from the wrong side of the tracks. He was raised by a single mother in Las Vegas and his occasionally present abusive step father, Daryl. Earlier in his life Deacon had penchant for young girls and wealthy older woman. He ultimately wound up in prison for trying to help Nikki beat a murder rap. The birth of his daughter seems to have softened and matured him in a positive way. His defining characteristic is either his charisma or ability to persevere. I believe there is good in his heart yet he has done many bad things to survive. He is neither black nor white but rather many shades of gray. These shades of gray are what I find so interesting as an actor.
TWB: We know you speak an excellent Italian: how long have you been studying? Is this study of the Italian language just a pleasure or do you think to live/work in our country in the future?
SEAN: I have studied Italian for almost a decade now. Unfortunately I couldn’t speak or understand the language very well when I did Ballando con Le Stelle. This made it a very difficult albeit rewarding experience. Italy has become a second home for me and I would welcome the opportunity to work there again. Studying Italian relaxes and focuses me. I guess it is a form of therapy.
TWB: We remember that you were a dancer on Ballando con le stelle. Also some of your collegues – Ronn Moss, Katherine Kelly Lang among them – danced on the same TV show. Do you still dance? Are you a sporty man?
SEAN: I am very fortunate to work with a group of people whom I really like. We do not socialize very often because we spend so much time together at work and have families.
